BIG NEWS in the MGS!
Amanda & Jeff Buchanan assume Managership of the Middlebrook General Store as of March 1
T o provide the community with good food, essential grocery items and farm supplies. To ontinue to serve breakfast and lunch as well as providing a family friendly atmosphere.
The MGS will now be selling Buchanan Livestock Supplies which includes: cattle mineral, horse feed, pine shavings, pet food and farm necessities. They will be open to all suggestions and will have a grocery list at the register. If they don’t have what you need , let them know and they will do their best to get it for you next time you visit.
Effective March 2, 2015 the store will be open Monday- Saturday, 7am – 7pm
The Buchanans ask for the support of the community to keep these extended hours … please have your morning coffee with them or stop by on your way home from work and order a pizza!

ABOUT AMANDA & JEFF:
Jeff was born and raised in Middlebrook and has been farming since childhood. Jeff specializes in A ngus breeding along with custom farming. He currently farms the family farm in Middlebrook. Jeff graduated from Virginia Tech where he obtained his degree in Agricultural Technology.
Amanda grew up in Rockbridge County and has had a love for animals , especially horses , since childhood. Amanda graduated from Meredith Manor International Equestrian Centre where she majored in Equine studies. Since graduation she has managed horse show barns and specialized in training young horses. Amanda currently works at Blue Ridge Equine Clinic as a veterinarian assistant.

This year the first Saturday in August falls on August 1. Mark your calendar for this great annual event – the 58th annual Middlebrook Horse Show
On the ball field on Cherry Grove Road May 16th 8 am to 1 pm.
Vendors $10 fee per vehicle. Vendor setup at 7 am.
Come one; come all. A community event. Our second event. Sponsored by the Middlebrook Ruritan Club.
Also come to famous Middlebrook Volunteer Fire Department BBQ chicken supper and parade that evening.

Judy Robichaux, the photographer for the show, did a very pleasant slide show of the 3013 Horse Show. There are excellent pictures of the hunt portion in the morning. Gives you a really good taste of how the show goes.

Already the Middlebrook Ruritan Horse Show Committee has begun preparations for the next show on August 2, 2014.
Even though as of this post (January 24th) there is snow on the ground and the temperature outside currently reads 18 dgrees fahrenheit, your committee wanted to get the word out so all of our faithful riders could at least imagine riding inn the show.
